Victorian Universities Among World’s Best

Two Victorian universities have ranked among the world’s best, with The University of Melbourne and Monash University both listed in Times Higher Education’s (THE) Top 100 Universities of 2016-17. The presence of two world-leading universities cements Victoria’s reputation as the Education State.

The University of Melbourne maintained its position as the number one university in Australia and equal 33rd in the world. THE cited the university’s international outlook and excellence in teaching as key reasons for its strong performance.

Monash University was ranked 74th, also thanks to an impressive score in the International Outlook criteria.

Five other Victorian universities ranked among the top 500 – Deakin University, La Trobe University, Swinburne University of Technology, Victoria University and RMIT University. This makes this year’s rankings the most successful ever for Victorian institutions, with seven listed in the top 500.

The Times Higher Education Rankings are among the world’s most prestigious, judging world class universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

    Central Queensland University has also campus in Melbourne and is on the list of the best 500 universities around the world!
